Vancouverites
are an outdoorsy lot. Few cities offer boating, skiing
and wilderness trails on their doorstep and everyone
takes to play like ducks to water.
First off, there are the beaches which virtually
surround Vancouver. Downtown, Stanley Park has
numerous sandy shores and English Bay is a favorite
place to stroll, buy popcorn from the beachside cart,
take lunch on one of the washed up logs and people
watch the body builders, wind surfers and yachters.
Over Burrard Street Bridge lies Kitsilano Beach.
Here’s where all the beautiful people hang out,
propped up against driftwood logs, sipping their iced
Starbucks and parading tight bodies at the beachside,
and in Kitsilano pool. And further along there are
sands that stretch right up to the University of
British Columbia. For dudes who like to doff the duds,
scramble down the cliffside trails below the
university to Wreck Beach, a nudist beach, that has a
very 1960’s ambiance. Even the beach vendors bare
all.
