Vancouver > Recreation > Ice Skating

Kerrisdale (south of Kitsilano), Kitsilano and Britannia (East Side) Community Centers have good sized indoor ice rinks which offer year-round public skating times (and rentals) when not booked heavy with junior league hockey teams. For our money (although only available in winter), it’s the outdoor winter rink at Robson Square (rentals available) where stock brokers and office assistants share the ice at lunch hour. Located beside the Vancouver Art Gallery in the heart of downtown, skating at night has a way of softening the edges of the city and, especially in a light snow, adds a magical quality. The 8,000 sq. ft. skating pond on Grouse Mountain is pretty nifty, too.
